It seems that the Affordable Care Act is going to be a burden on many of the uber-wealthy families in this country. It least it will for those who employ a staff of 50 or more people on their estates, doing such jobs as housecleaning, cooking, gardening, etc, as they will come under the same rules as does any 'small business' with 50 employees or more. They will need to either provide healthcare coverage or pay an annual 'tax' for each uninsured employee. Now it was mentioned that those people who maintains more than one estate could possible limit the impact of the ACA by setting up each property as a separate 'corporation' and as long any one estate has less than 50 employees listed on their payrolls that they could avoid this burdensome situation. Apparently this was one of the topics discussed recently at a weekend gathering of some of the wealthiest American families where they met to share ideas about managing portfolios, paying taxes (actually how to avoid paying taxes), estate planning, etc.
