Washington Post poll has Terry McAuliffe up by 12

A 24-point gender gap helps give Terry McAuliffe a 12-point lead in a Washington Post poll of the Virginia governor’s race published Monday night. 

Republican Ken Cuccinelli barely edges out McAuliffe among men, but he’s losing women by a margin of 58 percent to 34 percent. Overall, McAuliffe is up 51 percent to 39 percent – a margin 4 points wider than the newspaper’s poll last month – with 8 percent of likely voters backing Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis.
McAuliffe has an advantage on every major issue in the race — 9 points on the economy, 4 points on taxes and 19 points on health care. The latter is surprising in light of the botched Obamacare rollout and McAuliffe’s desire to expand Medicaid.
