It works for anything, pretty much.

It's more-or-less impossible to change someone's mind about something.

No amount of reasoning can do it.

No amount of facts can do it.

But maybe losing money can do it eventually.

And when that happens, it is amazing how much anger that the change in perception will generate.

I've tried almost everything to get Wave investors to see things from different perspectives. I have had just about zero success. Optimism trumps truth.

The folks with the biggest followings are those who promise the largest success. The process of winning followers in this way has a name. It is called the Potlatch Effect.
