at any rate, if i was a us citizen from the north east or west, i'd wonder why i have to put up with it. it's really, really tiresome.
the folks in the deep south and flyover countries seem to want to live in a pre-enlightenment culture with a gilded age economy. i want them to be able to live the way they want to live. but that means in a separate country. without subsidies from everyone else supporting them. if they want their minimalist government and unregulated capitalism and their fundamentalism and their pollution and their guns and their safety-net-free economy and their healthcare for the rich system, have at it, folks.
it just isn't what people from elsewhere want.
but if that's what you want, all power to you. enjoy your own shithole.
fork in the road? in a democracy, the majority must be able to govern even if the minority also has interests. if the minority cannot abide the policies of the majority (ie the will of the people as expressed via elections), then they need to hive themselves off somehow.
