In this day and age, for someone who obviously could afford excellent medical care - I wonder what he died of?

When Clancy tried to get his first book published, 'The Hunt for Red October', he couldn't find anyone who would publish it. He finally got the 'Navel Institute Press' in Annapolis to publish it. I think it was the first novel they ever published. Up until then they primary printed text books for the Navel Academy and other military training facilities. Note that my copy is one of the 'Navel Institute' printings and it does have the feel of a textbook.
