Indians select rookie Salazar for Wild Card Game

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Indians do not know who Salazar will be facing -- only that it will be either the Rays or Rangers. Those clubs ended the 162-game schedule knotted for the second Wild Card position, so they will play a tiebreaker game on Monday in Texas to determine who heads to Cleveland for Wednesday's Wild Card Game.

The winner of the Wild Card Game will head to Boston for the AL Division Series starting on Friday.

Red Sox are giddy about the wildcard contenders using up their best pitchers. The Rays would be nice after playing in Texas and Cleveland, then having to travel to Boston.

Meanwhile, Oakland hosts Detroit in the other divisional series.
