Joe:

I sincerely feel for you. I lost my 19-year-old cat a while back. It was so painful, I never wanted another pet. I kept wanting to keep him another day, another week, just not let him go. A few months after, my daughter dumped two of her new kittens at my house without asking. I had no choice but to keep them. It did help a lot.

Hello KTC,

We suppose that what prompted us to write that essay was the fact that we had Lucy the cat to the vet this week for her annual wellness check and found out that she is beginning to fail. She has lost weight and has the early beginnings of Kidney failure. As you might remember, she was 18 in May of this year and they simply don't last forever. So, we are especially treasuring this time we have with her.

Thanks for your question.

Regards,

Joe
