Hi clo,

These are all internal issues.

He has had a free hand on foreign policy. He has pursued actions which show a narrow definition of self-interest (eg drones, global spying) but not so much with a broader view.

Eg he went to Egypt and made a speech encouraging freedom and democracy in the Arab world. But when the time came, he was too fastidious to get involved in the events of the Arab spring. Now it has fizzled with nothing accomplished.

Heck, he hasn't even managed to do anything about Gitmo.

He could have been a reconciler. He still could be. But he is so focussed on American wants that he just hasn't managed to do anything big on the world stage.

Compare him with Reagan/Thatcher/Gorbachev. They ended the cold war. He has accomplished almost nothing.

Okay - he is better than Bush/Cheney. But that is a very low bar.

Hi CF,

I disagree.
I think that was Obama's hope but....

Obama has been fighting for legitmacy since he took office.
Many Birthers don't even accept his as a US citizen.
The republicans put up road blocks on the 'debt ceiling' prior to Obama this was a done deal...
Even though Obamacare is LAW, they treat it as if it isn't attempting to overturn it some 40x so far.

Obama might go down as a great president, given the circumstances he dealt with, including the worst economy since 1929!
