I spent my entire day at the emergency department and then at a hand specialist/surgeon. At 5: 45 a.m. I was walking through the plant opening up outside doors to let employees in. I turned to walk away from the second to last one and as I took a step my left foot just caught the corner of a pallet that was on the floor. It was enough to make me lose my balance. So I started to run to get my legs and feet back under me and avoid the fall. I ran out of clear space and ran into another pallet full of freshly lasered plate steel slightly under 1/8 inch thick. I fell headlong into it. When I got up, I realized my shirt had a nice tear in it in the front.
Then I noticed the shirt turning deep red fast. As I pinched it shut with both hands one of the employes said to get in his car and away we went to the hospital. When I arrived there 15 minutes later, I noticed the entire side of my shirt was drenched in blood. I then noticed the left hand, or what was left of it. All the skin and a lit of meat of the palm is missing. I can;t tell you how good this feels. I was given morphine directly into the I.V. port several times.
I have 14 exterior stitches and God only knows how many interior ones to close up the stomach gash. So, mrs. micro just went after the pain meds and antibiotics for me. I could use them right about NOW!!!! I also discovered that I am likely going to lose the nail on my big toe on the left foot. It is bleeding underneath from impacting the side of the pallet and the nail and toe are both black and blue. That explains why it was hurting with my shoe on. Sure hope your day was better than mine! lol!!!! Later, micro... |
