"You don't know 'who' will use 'Hitler' until you listen ;))"

You got me!

But once someone Hitlers, there's no point in listening any further. It's just good versus evil ever afterwards. And US self-interest is not simply "good".

I agree that Assad is a nasty piece of work. But we'd have been better off with a gradual, managed shift towards democracy than what we have got. Both (or all) sides seem pretty rotten.

As regards O's foreign policy. He was a fool to snub Russia over Snowden. Now he needs Russian help about something important and he's not going to get it. At least not easily.

Syria is a key strategic Russian client. It isn't about human rights or democracy for Putin. He needs a Mediterranean base for his navy and he has it there.

Hi Cactus Flower,

"A good rule is to listen only to folks who don't use Hitler for a comparison."

You don't know 'who' will use 'Hitler' until you listen ;))

Besides, I believe its important to know what others are saying/spewing even if I don't agree, maybe even more important at times.

Obama has put himself & the US in a terrible position, and he did it when he spoke off the cuff, drawing a red line...

To strike Syria only to punish without trying to have a meaningful impact is dangerous.
But Iran is watching & We have told them NO Nuclear weapons Or Else... Or else what...
IMO, since Israel, Turkey, & India have nuclear weapons why not Iran?
Jeez, what about the lunatic in North Korea?

I was just listening to a UN Q&A press conference. There are 1,000 UN workers in Syria helping with humanitarian issues. Can you imagine if a US missile killed any of them by accident...

We are caught between a rock & a brick wall.

Obama will be at a meeting next week, Putin will be there also. Obama had canceled meeting Putin over Snowden, maybe he should rethink that. If he can get Putin to condemn the use of chemical weapons by Syria, that might make a difference overall.
Let the World condemn Assad!
