It's surprising that this of all things gets your goat.
Maybe there are some liberals that think a lot about feeding kids at school. Can't say I am one of them. But I dislike the idea of poor children not getting a square meal. So I guess I'd not be horrified if they had a place to get one.
Not that I'd wish the school food I ate on anyone. I kinda thing we should have been paid to do so.
has long been an asperation of the liberal crowd. Tonight the school district I pay taxes to and to which I was, very early in my career the Food Sevices Director, announced that all students through grade 8 will receive free breakfast and lunch. I strongly oppose this terrible f'ing idea. The US gov't has never funded these programs enough to provide really smart, nutritious tasty meals. Thus they've been complicit in the obesity epidemic. Too boot,it fosters gov't dependence. Sure it will save the cost of administering non discrimination between paying and non paying students. So would charging all students the same $.25. Simply direct social services to send $.25 for each student whose family is on food stamps to the school district. Paying families are given a discount to prepay for student meals. All students that are prepaid (including food stamp kids) get their lunch ticket. All other pay $.25 if they wish that meal. It's simple, non discriminating, saves taxpayers billions and greatly reduces the potential to foster gov't dependence. A DUMB, expensive and harmful over-reach of liberal politics.
