the us government seems to do this sort of thing quite a bit these days. it acts without candour.
so it runs a secret surveillance programme with weak filters and secret legal justifications.
it operates an extensive drone programme which it hardly acknowledges and for which they have provided no legal justification.
i understand the us felt unsafe after 911. but are they just going to turn the rest of the world into chaos in the hopes that this will cure it of baddies?
because that really isn't going to work.
it kinda seems the dullest pentagon warriors are still in control of the levers of power.
the strongest defence the us has is to make everyone respect/like the country. that's the only conceivable winnable end game. how do they achieve that?
