Bim, read the press release one more time ... it says that the panel determined that InterDigital was entitled to the ROYALTIES sought by them and the ROYALTIES are at the RATES specified in the agreement ... ROYALTIES include the volume variable which you are uncertain/concerned about.

Again, in the press release InterDigital mentioned the $52.6 million ... why even mention it (and such an exact amount) if they did not win and plan on recognizing all of it which they were already paid too?

I've asked IR numerous questions including how many arbitrations were currently active while quoting their own disclosures and still would not get an ideally exact answer ... it appears to me that IR's marching orders are to only recite and reference public statements only ... it's unfortunate but a reality we need to live with ... again, what is more curious to me is that they still have not mentioned the name of this company.

The press release and referenced excerpt below:

The panel determined that InterDigital was entitled to the royalties sought by the company under the arbitration at the rates specified in the technology license agreement. The licensee under the agreement had paid the disputed amounts under protest and, as of June 30, 2013, the total deferred revenue balance was approximately $52.6 million as reported in the company's quarterly report on Form 10-Q for the period ended June 30, 2013.

Rak and Sonic,

first of all, the arb win was a great thing... don't get me wrong... and I am not trying to downplay it as it will mean revs/earnings moving forward.

I am well aware of the deferred revs that we have accumulated...

but what was not clear (to me) is that IDCC said we got the rates we wanted.... but did they get the devices and numbers sold they wanted?

Let's say the arb panel came back and said, ok we agree that the contract stated X rate for Y devices...but it didn't include everything this tech. customer sold? Let's say they came back and said you get $40 million. It is still a win and can still be at the rates specified, just didn't include a certain class of devices.

I asked IR (Twice) a very simple question: did we win the entire 52.6 million and they wouldn't answer me, instead kept quoting the PR. To be honest, those replies kinda piss me off when they do that.

Obviously, We will find out when this plays out.... but that is why we are trying to read tea leaves.
