Well, whaddayou know. Whistleblowing is not something the US encourages.

One presumes that the Feds will now pursue with equal vigour the folks who introduced torture policies as this did much more harm to the US than anything Manning managed.

Oh wait. Presidents and veeps are above the law.

Breaking News: Bradley Manning sentencing

A military judge sentenced Army Pfc. Bradley Manning to 35 years in prison this morning after he was found guilty of providing a trove of sensitive government documents to WikiLeaks. The judge, Col. Denise Lind, also reduced Manning's rank to that of private and ordered a dishonorable discharge.

Prosecutors had asked Lind to sentence Manning to 60 years, arguing that he had betrayed the Army. Manning's defense attorneys had asked Lind to be lenient, arguing that Manning genuinely thought he was doing the right thing by disclosing the State Department cables, war records and other material.
