Reince Priebus Calls 'Self-Deportation' Comment 'Racist'

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Thursday forcefully condemned "self-deportation," the policy of making life for undocumented immigrants so difficult that they voluntarily leave the United States.
"Using the word 'self-deportation' -- it's a horrific comment to make," the RNC chairman reportedly said to Business Insider. "I don't think it has anything to do with our party. When someone makes those comments, obviously, it's racist."
Former Republican Party presidential nominee Mitt Romney used the phrase in a Republican debate in 2012 when asked about his approach to immigration. The phrase was repeatedly attacked by the Obama campaign, and Republican Newt Gingrich said it was an inhumane and unrealistic approach to dealing with illegal immigration.
