John Kerry's Middle East peace initiatives - What a jackass!

The Good Guys:

Mina Thabet, an activist with Christian rights group the Maspero Youth Union, told Al Jazeera on Friday that at least 32 churches had been “completely destroyed, burned or looted” in eight different governorates over the previous two days. The group also recorded dozens of other attacks on Christian-owned shops, businesses and schools around the country.

An unknown Sunni group has claimed responsibility for a car-bomb explosion that has killed at least 22 people and injured 290 in Beirut's southern suburbs.

Thursday's explosion struck near a facility used by Hezbollah, the Shia political party and armed group that in recent months has become increasingly and more publicly involved in the conflict in neighbouring Syria.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Security crises in Egypt, Syria and other countries are overshadowing rising death tolls and new fears of civil war in Iraq, once the top U.S. priority in the Mideast. However, the prospect that sectarian violence could fuel instability beyond Iraq's borders remains a concern for the Obama administration.

Officials and experts say the White House's attention is focused elsewhere — even as more than 1,000 people were killed in Iraq in July, the deadliest month since 2008.
