Hi tkc,

War? No-one said anything about that. I think we're talking about diplomacy.

I am trying to figure out how the US can help Egypt avoid a civil war and how the US can avoid the further ruin of its support in the ME.

The support matters until the US has moved away from oil.

I think its best chance is to support the MB in terms of its legitimacy as a government but to insist on an election to reflect the real issue of the popular will as the price of its support.

That position has the benefit of manouevring the MB away from AQ and it ensures an election.

That's all she wrote.

CF & Dig, it should come as no surprise that I disagree. Why should the US take sides? Which side is the right side? Why does it have to be the US? Advocate for UN intervention. Taking a side means support-$,arms &/or troops. We need to invest in the US, not another war. Invest in NG, wind, solar & dams and screw oil. Protect Israel and let these unstable muslim states work out their politics. I applaud O for his patience and hope he conitines to resist the drums from the industrial military complex. I'm no isolationalist but give us a break from war. Watch and advocate for UN intervention if necessary. We know the GOP will want us to intervene.
