The per-capita health expenditure is on pace to grow to nearly $18,000 by the end of the decade, according to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the state's largest insurer. That's nearly $10,000 more than what it was when the coverage expansion law passed in 2006.
Today, Massachusetts is the most expensive state for health coverage in a country that spends more on healthcare than any other in the world.
And Ma. had certain advantages over the rest of the country in terms of providing healthcare to it's residents. Besides, we wanted to do it - it was our bipartisan choice, unlike Obamacare which was passed exclusively by know-nothing Democrats just before they got unelected from Congress. It was also passed during prosperous times, before the Permanent Bush Depression hit. Obamacare may reduce the state's costs since healthcare may be paid for with Free Obama Money. In any case, Obamacare will be wonderous to behold. Can't wait for Immigration Reform to add another 10-15 million customers and we can save even more money.
