Cactus Flower,

When we do become energy independent, how do these governments/people survive?
Won't there be more unrest then?

We, in the USA, have extremists trying to move in...
They are like termites, they find a nook & start eroding the foundation...

It doesn't necessarily end well for the West, either.

Clearly, many Egyptians see us as bad actors and they want to throw off the perceived shackles of Western influence.

This is the kind of environment that extremists move in. Large disgruntled population. Heavy-handed military.

Some of these folks think violence is the only way. We have to find the way to provide a peaceful alternative.

The sooner we can all move to alternative energy the better as our dependence on oil is making things bad for everyone.

[Not that Egypt is an oil power, but it is a power in the oil region]
