Nothing surprises me about Republican practices at the state level. I became a Republican many years ago so that my wife and I could work at the same polling station during elections. We had to be enrolled in different parties. As a monied Republican and something of an activist in those days, I used to get invited to Massachusetts Republican party functions. Absolutely hilarious - like stepping back to the stone age, only much dumber. The attending moderates and liberals would be astonished, but always thoroughly amused.
