hi clo,

toxic combination, isn't it.

the folks who argue for an immobile constitution think it protects against crazy people getting to the levers of power.

turns out the crazies can prevent government from using many of the levers of power.

and not only that. poorly drawn elements of the immobile constitution facilitate crazy behaviours. such as heavily arming the nutters with semi-automatic weapons so they can visit primary schools and cinemas with them.

the constitution protects rules that 90% of voters want to change. money does that. it does that because the supreme court reads the constitution to permit it.

but if you create this kind of model, then you discover that it generates tremendous unresolved frustration within society. which is a dangerous thing to develop. even for people with money.

hence good people want to help identify the sources of the problems so they can be fixed.

Hi Cactus Flower,

Sooo true!
gerrymandering has been very destructive to functional government. The Supreme's added insult to injury with Citizens United...

When the 'founding fathers' wrote THE Constitution their world & the problems they were facing and preparing for are FAR Different then today.

And with the NSA ease dropping programs, HOW 'free' IS free speech?
