Joe,

You make my point.

" There is a huge difference between being trained and educated. Soldiers are trained to follow orders and not to question them."

Both of these men 'questioned' & did NOT follow orders.
They also, opened Pandora's Box & ask others to 'question' & not simply put their 'trust' in those in power.

Clo,

These individuals did not go through the traditional educational process of attending classes and having their ideas questioned by their peers either in classroom work or in the more informal settings that surround higher education. Getting a GED avoids most high school classroom work and simply concentrates on the material at hand. You can either get a degree or you can get an education and neither Manning or Snowden got any sort of education. And it shows! I am not saying that there are not people out there who have done very well without much formal education. Abraham Lincoln is a fine example. So was George
Washington. However, Bradley Manning is no Lincoln and Edward Snowden is no Washington. You say these people were well educated and I would counter by saying that they were merely well trained. There is a huge difference between being trained and educated. Soldiers are trained to follow orders and not to question them.

Regards,

Joe
