Staying close to kids, grandkids is what it's all about... We'll never leave this area, Sonoma County unless sudden wealth led the kids to pack it up, move to Timbuktu!

Brother did that, left the SF Bay Area to move to Roseville, after the kids all het the road... They followed ASAP...

Austin, heard a lot of good things about it... But it's still Texas..

It's one of the options that is on the table. In fact, we almost bought a home there a couple of months ago that one of my wife's cousins was about to lose to the bank but felt that since I plan to work another 2 years at least, that we weren't quite ready to be a long-distance owner or even landlord, besides, another cousin stepped in (just down the road from the property) and saved the day.

However, our four granddaughters live in Texas (about 25 miles West of Houston) and while we would never move to that part of Texas, there are some nice areas near Austin and just west of there in the so-called 'Hill County' around Johnson City and Fredericksburg. And housing is pretty cheap there as well so we could really get ourselves a nice place and be about 1500 miles closer to our a big part of our family, but that's still all speculation at the moment.
