You're right, BAP, your outage coincided with something very similar to what others were describing, so yup, that was an acknowledged Stanford blip. They rectified it at the same time your points partially recovered, too, so nice that it picked up without you even there.

On the second point, depending on when you look in Task Manager it will give different values. In addition to ver 7 using fluctuating amounts of cpu as it works, writes to disk, etc., other processes are running on your machine, deducting from the 99 or 100 we'd love to see folding at. The -1 slot default tells ver 7 to choose to number of slots, they had you put in a specific real value so as to free up the better part of a thread that ver 7 requires with NVidia cards and even more so, prevent SMP from constantly being interrupted each time the gpu wants it (to write results, whatever). We are reminded that when one SMP thread stops, they all stop.
Hence the MP in SMP (Symmetric Multi-Processing).

I'm sure you're nonetheless absolutely delighted to give a thread to your card in exchange for the points it's/they're putting up. Cool

Guys, when I returned the computer was processing, I'll call them non-Kepler projects (don't know), at half the point value. Then soon it resumed with the 8900 Kepler's, so am back to high level processing. Maybe the server temporarily ran out of 8900's.

One strange thing, ArVee. They suggested I replace the SMP action of -1 with 6. I observe the task manager says "CPU usage 87%." Don't we want 100 percent or not? In fact the other desktop (also a quad), I changed the SMP to 6 as well. It says, "CPU usage 90%." One of the threads, the 7th, looks like it's operating at half rate.
