Actually the requirement is to prepay 75 years of pension and medical insurance costs, something which has NOT been imposed on a single other 'government' agency. If Congress were to attempt to make this a requirement of private industry it would be thrown out by the courts.

It was the neocons in Congress that passed, under George W. Bush, this idea that the post office has to prepay benefits for up to sixty years in advance over a ten year period of time. And they did this in order to try to destroy the post office because of the unionization of it.

The Republicans like to talk about what is in the U.S. Constitution but they don't like for the American people to know that the delivery of the post is specified in that same constitution.
