I'll be surprised if the DOJ moves on this case.

Years ago there was the Rodney King case where the DOJ did move & that was a case that deserved such action!
Two of the four officers were convicted & served time after the DOJ moved.

If you never watched the video of the beating those bastards gave Rodney King, you might want to witness it.
That they got off in the first trial, was criminal.

eg the headline which read "not guilty but not innocent".

Wow, whose headline was that? I hope it was an opinion editorial and not a news article.

I admit to not paying a whole lot of attention to this case, so don't have strong opinions. But what facts I do know, it certainly sounds like Z "stupidly", but legally followed T to see what he was up to. And then got jumped and beaten by T, leading to the tragic results. And the necessary acquittal based on Florida law.

What disturbs me, and maybe it won't come to pass, is the possible second trial on Federal civil rights charges. It's just real hard to spin that any way to avoid the fact that it's "legalized" double jeopardy. The people had their day in court and didn't win. Let the man go try to put his life back together. I doubt he'll be very successful at that.
