We should all hope that when 2015 rolls around and Perry leaves office, that he immediately announces that he's running for president in 2016. The GOP really needs to have people like Perry in the race. Maybe even get Herman Caine back in along with Bachmann and Ryan. That should just about destroy any chances of the GOP primary process ever putting forth someone who could win in 2016, even if Hillary didn't run. Of course, if she does run, I suspect that the GOP primary process will even go deeper into bat-shit reactionary mode and we'll end-up with someone like Ted Cruz or maybe even Sister Sarah.

Praise the Lord! ;))

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) said he will not run for reelection in 2014.

Perry, 63, will leave office as Texas's longest-serving governor. He left open the possibility of making a second run for president.

"The time has come to pass on the mantle of leadership. Today, I am announcing I will not seek reelection as governor of Texas," said Perry, speaking at a Caterpillar dealership in San Antonio on Monday. "I will spend the next 18 months working to create more jobs, opportunity and innovation. I will actively lead this great state. I'll also pray and reflect and work to determine my own future path."
