Repeal involves some additional federal expense.

It puts us at odds with about 3/4 of the world which will not promote mutual understanding.

It creates additional conflict within an already conflicted U.S.

It violates thousands of years of religious and societal tradition.

It makes a 5-4 decision by a severely divided Supreme Court the law of the land.

What happens if we get a conservative court majority in four years, especially if most states still do not endorse gay marriage.

Have consequences, good or bad, for the country and the majority been thought out, and not just the impact on gay folks? BTW, Ma. was first in the nation on this and we have noted no negative impacts, which is encouraging.

Will the ruling be taken as promoting a gay life-style and lead to an explosion of sexual experimentation among the young, the stupid, and the sexually active and curious?

Will it further erode men's ability to be effective heads of houseold which has already been damaged.

I haven't put much thought into this. My family supported the decision.
