Raj Rajaratnam Insider Conviction Upheld by Appeals Court

The ruling comes as former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. director Rajat Gupta waits to hear from the same appeals court in his bid to overturn his insider-trading conviction. Gupta argued that prosecutors shouldn’t have been allowed at his trial to use secretly wiretapped calls in which he wasn’t a participant.
Rajaratnam, 56, was convicted of directing the biggest hedge fund insider-trading scheme in U.S. history and is serving an 11-year prison sentence. At the trial, the government introduced 45 secret recordings, along with documents and testimony derived from the wiretaps.
