If I was forced to move to Texas, Austin is one of the few parts of Texas that I would give serious consideration to. The other's include the so-called 'Hill-Country', just West of Austin, between Johnson City and Fredericksburg, or San Antonio (the city itself, not the area outside the city as that's pretty much like the rest of Texas).
Funny, I was watching a show & folks were looking for a home in Austin Texas.
'Austin schools' are some of the best, proving NOT all of Texas is a wasteland ;))
