Clo,

Obama has been very cautious but there is apparently hard evidence that Sarin gas has been used by somebody on a very limited scale as only somewhat over one hundren people have been affected by it. We really hate to say this but looking at the situation as it really is, the best option might be to keep Assad in power as we really do not know what the other options are and past expenience has not been favorable in regime changes. Hezbolah and other terrorist forces are now fighting inside of the country and they will probably not go away unless Assad wins and forces them out. This is probably just going to fester for some time until a clear winner comes out as this seems to be a proxy war for all the forces fighting in the region. The great fear is that it may spill over into other nations in the region and further upset the stability, or what is left of it.

Regards,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Obama hasn't told us why he NOW believes sarin gas was used. Was it because of new evidence?

Neo-cons are pressing Obama, even Bill Clinton got in the act.
IMO, Obama is waffling, he's trying to have it both ways.

Waiting until now to arm the 'rebels' (god only knows if they will hate us after this) is a no-win situation, they are losing now. Any momentum they had was months ago.

Joe, we can't 'pick' which rebels we arm, once the arms are given they can be taken & turned on us.

What is the 'end game?' for our side?
Who will be the leader of these 'rebels?'
Will he be a religious extremist?

Why should Assad cave now? What are his options? Who is willing to take him? Putin?

When you put one foot in and try straddling, you usually end up pissing all over yourself...

After GWB attacked Iraq he turned the entire region into a hornets nest! He disrupted the delicate balance, Saddam kept Iran in check, etc...
Now, Iran is more powerful then ever & the rest is becoming history.

This is a NO-WIN situation for Americans!
