Speaking of being in uniform, here is my dad in 1939 when he was an ambulance driver in the Michigan National Guard:

And here he is is right after returning to the states in 1945 after 3 1/2 years overseas in the Army serving in the Persian Gulf as part of the Quartermasters Corp hauling supplies overland by truck to the Russian Army:

BTW, I still have the camera that he's holding, which he carried throughout his time overseas...
