I find it interesting that some of the same folks who accused the left of being scared ninnies over the matter of wiretaps, monitoring phone calls and sifting through vast records of ordinary Americans back in the mid 2000's..... are now pretending like they are the only guarantors of American constitutional rights when the same program is brought back to light in 2013.

They defended the program back then... called us all sorts of names for questioning its legitimacy.

But now, because Obama is president, they have suddenly become outraged chest pounders. Whereas they called us ninnies back then for fearing that this secret program had a lack of accountability built into it, and that it was invasive to the phone records and internet communications of ordinary Americans... now they call us "SHEEPLE" for not pounding our own chests as loudly as they seem to be pounding theirs.

Here's what they miss. And here is why they are clueless:

Their opposition to the program has nothing to do with any well thought out basis in Constitutional rights. If it did, they would have been on board with opposing the program when it first appeared.

Their opposition has everything to do with their partisan hatred of Obama. At every turn, they sidestep the issue... that Bush put the program in place.

Knowing that they care nothing about the constitutional protections that they willingly disgarded in the mid-2000's, we should be glad that some of them are coming around to see the dangerous nature of this program.

HOWEVER, as long as they attempt to make it a partisan issue, they remain clueless, and it is only a waste of time to pay attention to them.

This is not a partisan issue. Bush and Obama are equally culpable for the maintenance of PRISM and all invasive intrusions on private communications in this country. Any attempt to somehow say that Obama is "worser"- again.. is partisan nonsense, and serves only the interests of those who, brick by brick, are building the impenetrable walls of the national security state.

Here's the truth.... what we are facing has nothing to do with partisan politics. It has everything to do with a growing, unaccountable branch of government that is clothed in a shroud of secrecy and can do whatever it d$mned well pleases, regardless of who is president. And this branch of government has been growing in power for decades.

Democrat or Republican.. they've all talked about "freedom", and they've all signed the enabling legislation that aids and abets the growth of the monster.

Each party says that it will protect the rights of Americans against the invasiveness of government intrusion....

And then when each party gets the chance, probably because each party believes in its innate goodness, good sense and "being right".... it believes the illusion that it can control the beast and make it do what it wants... and thus, unwittingly, another brick in the wall slides into place.

I don't know the answer to the problem.

But I do know that electing Democrats is not the solution.

And I know that electing Republicans is not the solution.

Our polarized political climate only strengthens the beast.
