hi doma,
i find each of those notions well and good. but they take you nowhere but to unresolvable uncertainty.
what i find interesting about ideas is when you build them and know the foundations of them and they finally result in a conclusion.
does it matter if that process is derived from an algorithm? on the contrary, i am sure that it does. life is a biological algorithm informed by dna in a chaotic environment. if it is some other form of algorithm, that makes little difference to me.
the thing that matters is that my thoughts derive from a process which i know i went through.
if someone else has had the same idea, that doesn't bother me at all. I still went through a process and derived a result which means the strings of the idea are original to me.
there are plenty of dualists out there. but my dualism sits upon my experience and is formed out of my reading and my thinking. i didn't take someone else's idea and make it my own. indeed, i had no idea i would end up being a dualist. it was the result of about 25 years of thinking about the same thing. how to make sense of the world.
it finally all came together one damascene morning when the model of a dynamic universe which is from top to bottom based upon opposing forces finally occurred to me in a flash. that's to say, force rather than matter is the essence of creation. matter is a mere expression of force bound together and shaped into the form of particles. m=e/c2. mass is the relationship between opposing sorts of energy. split your atom, unbind energy from its divisor, and it emits an unbelievable amount of force. fuse an atom with another one and you create a star.
unlike paul, my blindness preceded the revelation. even though the revelation itself is blinding.
