hi doma,
well, i was actually thinking about the contrast of thomas the gnostic and doubting thomas.
but now you mention it, i also think a theory which says everything that is material is unreal can't really use anything material as a form of proof. for myself, i think the leap to a unifying consciousness has the same character as the leap to divinity. it's a claim that cannot be proved. maybe i am wrong.
but when you use dualism (eg in quantum theory) to suggest uniformity (conscience) i think you are bolstering my theory rather than proving your own.
my theory doesn't depend upon a unifying underlying spirit. it says that the basic form of everything is opposing forces. essentially, from the beginning, there is an expansive force and a contracting one. and everything is built out of them. i would hazard a guess that all the expansive forces and all the contracting forces in the universe are exactly in balance. but even so, there is no form of stability between them.
and following from this, i suppose black holes are the opposite of the expansion of the universe. the more the universe expands, the more black holes there will be or the larger the forces they will contain. until finally, we will snap back to the singularity and start again.
