Not following all you guys are saying. Apparently one can't give the same ip address to two computers. micro I did catch the blank position error but it doesn't help. "Repair" is probably the same thing but it fails.

My switch is 3Com, model unknown. I will wait for the router to arrive. My service provider is Comcast.

I guess I have gotten to used to switches that have DHCP automatically ON by default. lol!!!

I made one other error.

The CMD for IPCONFIG renewal.

The SPACE is AFTER IPCONFIG, not after the forward slash.

So It should be: ipconfig_/renew

I hope BAP posts the switch because I would love for him to be able to use that.

Won't the switch work with his modem?
