Pretty sure that you need a router. I have never used a switch, but if I recall correctly it won't do what you need. The router uses one IP address and distributes to the computers hooked up to it. The switch won't distribute.

My router went bad. I think the cat knocked it over one too many times! I suppose this message could go to PC Advice but I don't know which is working AB's or RB's. Anyway micro, I located that switch you once advised to connect more than one computer, but apparently it doesn't work with just a modem. Is that true? Does one NEED a router? It seems to be a problem with supplying more than one ip address at a time.
