Hi Cactus Flower,

I've recently watched a few episodes of 'The Deadliest Catch,' about fishermen, in this case going after 'crabs.'

One captain wasn't having any luck & radioed another captain to ask how he was doing. The other captain was hauling them in, yet said he wasn't doing well.
The other captain realized he was lying when he saw him circle back & throw out more cages.

A day or two later, the captain that lied had a mate aboard that had an infection & he didn't have antibiotics, he was a week away from getting them if he had to go back.
He radioed the captain he had lied to & asked if he would help him out. His reply, YES.

He said even though he knew he was lied to, on sea they have a pact, when anyone is in need, they do anything they can to help & put other issues aside.

Hi jt,

I am certainly no expert on this, although I've read alternatives.

But it doesn't matter a jot. Actually, the spontaneous formation of organisational structures amongst fisherman (or actually lobstermen) is something I read about recently - in Maine.

But that was a book about altruism.

I think that particular section was about arrangements in common land. Or ocean. Or whatever.
