Russell 2000 index breaks above 1,000

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The Russell 2000 index (RSU:RUT) , which measures the performance of small-cap U.S. equities, pushed above the psychologically important 1,000 level for the first time on Monday as other stock indexes also rose to all-time highs. The index was up 0.5% in recent trade at 1,001.37 and is up 17.9% in the year-to-date, according to FactSet.
