The word conservative was hijacked by a right wing coalition to give respectable label to racists, religious bigots, tin foil hat anti-tax zealots, gun nuts, anti-feminists, and other assorted yahoos.
Normal folk have nothing in common with these people. The fact that center right folks empowered these yahoos is shameful.
Now the worst of the right wing has ground the US governemnt to a halt. This is no laughing matter.
Remember the lady at the town hall meeting who explained how not having health insurance was killing her, nad the righties all chanted "die, die, die". Those righties are now a majority in the House.
