Police in Texas are considering whether to charge a mother who decided to consult the website WebMD after a friend shot her son instead of taking him to the hospital.

According to KHOU, surveillance video recorded in a Houston home on Tuesday shows Pete Jesse Rodriguez 'tracking' the 14-year-old boy's movements with his pistol before pulling the trigger. The boy sustained a gunshot to the upper-left thigh.

After laying on the floor for several minutes, the teen reportedly got up and helped his mother Google WebMD.com for information on treating a gunshot wound. But after seven hours, the mother relented and took the boy to Mainland Center hospital.

The boy was later transported to Hermann Hospital, where he was in stable condition on Wednesday.

Rodriguez was initially charged with making false statements and then later charged with one count of injury to a child with intent to commit serious bodily injury. He was being held in lieu of $151,500 bond.

Police were investigating the possibility of charging the mother with felony injury to a child by omission.
