hi jt,

okay. but for me, it is piffling next to the world trade centre and the pentagon.

in its heyday, aq was trying to harm the whole economy (eg wall street), or to attack american power (eg the uss cole, the african embassies), or to close down entire travel networks (planes, trains and tubes).

stopping a race achieves nothing much. it isn't even up to the horror standard of newtown.

this sounds like folks who don't reach the aq threshold. it's even sub-ira terror. third division effort with relatively low energy bombs.

for comparison: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remembrance_Day_bombing

CF,

We would have to disagree with you on your statement that the Boston Marathon was not a big enough stage for AQ. There were twenty seven thousand runners from all over the world in a town full of foreign nationals attending some of the best universities in the world! And, as it worked out, it worked! And, remember, that AQ likes to revisit places that they have been before. The attacks on september eleventh originated in Boston so they have been there before. We're not ruling out home grown terrorists. We're not ruling out anybody.

Regards,

Joe
