"The U.S. State Department released a statement Saturday in response to Russia's latest decision.
"As we've said many times before, the right response by Russia to the international outcry over Sergey Magnitsky's death would be to conduct a proper investigation and hold those responsible for his death accountable, rather than engage in tit-for-tat retaliation," according to the statement."

Alternatively, the right US response to Russia's response is to look in the mirror.
1. Don't write laws about people in other countries. Self-righteousness is not an infrequent weakness of America's approach to the world.
2. Don't torture people. It's illegal under international law.
3. Imperial over-reach makes enemies, not friends.
Not unreasonably, the Russians are saying that the US lost its moral authority under Bush and its State Department needs to remember this.
A dose of medicine? A nice chat between the senate and George Galloway MP once a year.
