It wasn't a "momentary wave of despair," since "Matthew Warren struggled with mental illness, deep depression and suicidal thoughts throughout his life."

He is now free from the torment of mental illness. I hope his family will find some comfort in that.
'Suicide' leaves family & friends with the eternal question, what could I have done..... never to be answered....

Warren Mourns Son’s Suicide

After news that Pastor Rick Warren’s son had committed suicide, the popular evangelical pastor spoke out Sunday, asking his congregation to pray for his family as they cope with the loss. "He had a brilliant intellect and a gift for sensing who was most in pain or most uncomfortable in a room,” Warren said. Matthew, 27, had long been plagued with suicidal thoughts and severe depression. In an email to his congregation, Warren said he and his wife had shared a “fun Friday evening” with their son before he allegedly decided to take his own life in a “momentary wave of despair.”
