Hi tkc,

You make excellent points!
When I bought my home in 1968 we thought 6% interest rate was great & it was ;))

Ardsley is beautiful. We had our wedding reception at the Water Wheel. And my mother in law at the time had her own real estate business in Ardsley & lived in Ardsley.
She had a glorious view out of her huge picture window of the back yard, with a pond. I wish I could remember the name of the road, maybe it will come to me in a dream. Heatherdale??? does that ring a bell?

I lived & graduated from HS in Briarcliff. Another lovely area.
Thanks for the memories ;))

Hi Clo. "Keep in mind interest rates have been horrible for those of us seniors that have been careful to save money." True, but on the flip side it has been a great opportunity to improve personal balance sheets. Refi a house @ 3.5% for 30 or 2.75% for 15. Borrow short term (18 mos.)@ 1.5% to pay off high interest credit. Those that invested in blue chip utilities (and others) such as Ed,T & Vz have done just great. I lived in Ardsley 'til 2000 - if one were to sell a home there today and purchase another somewhere less expensive they'd become very comfortable quickly. For sure it's been really tough on those that only had CDs and AAAs.
