hi dig,

i don't know exactly who you are talking about as there are a few candidates, but let me say this:

it is easier to split an atom than for a third party to change a person's opinion if it is a strong one (and most are).

it cannot be done.

facts don't matter. experience doesn't matter. logic doesn't matter. opinions are completely impervious.

that if a person for years claimed supreme to the point of exclusive knowledge, coupled that knowledge to an equity, created a persona to single handedly maintain the status quo re BoD of that equity, and found that equity to fail and flounder at each and everyone of their supremely insightful signposts ... that the person might (not consciously) doubt their own understanding and competence.

Rather than seeing and addressing their self-doubt, they project what they hide from themselves (incompetence) onto others.

They paint others as ignorant fools. They do so in complete disregard for both local and broader social norms, and do so from some sort of over-compensating pinnacle.

It would seem a real firm case of narcissism can be made for such an individual.
