Section 1.
Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
Section 2.
The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
Section 3.
This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.[

It seems rather a tragedy that these few words are not part of the Constitution.
As a young lawyer I was always shocked by the fact that when the Amendment was defeated the majority of Americans were women.
I could not quite understand the lunacy of people not affirming their own equality.
It's time to remember the ladies, with all deference to Abigail Adams.

The Preamble tells us up front that we are to seek a more perfect union.
Let's do it.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
