i'm none too keen on the bail-out. but if you are going to make a business economy out of attracting offshore money, i guess you are a little more vulnerable than most to harsh terms.
to me, it looks like the eu wishes to make an example of a rogue financial actor. but the problem we have faced has hardly been addressed. which is a banking system gone crazy.
a lot of dark money will be moving to Luxemburg and Switzerland.
The way that we understand this bailout agreement, the regulators are going after the extremely large depositors, many of them Russian, who have turned Cyprus's banking system into their own personal play pen. Small depositors are supposedly paying little to nothing!
