I worked in Stockton for a few months many years ago, maybe 1990's... It has had a lot of problems, drug dealers, unemployment... At the Telco building, all the parking meters were eother smashed open or missing, at the company parking lot where you used your ID Crad to open the gate, the local creeps would grab the lady's arm, threaten to break it when she had the window down to get in... Pay up or get hurt.. So armed security guards were there. Motels had security as well, with warnings not to go wandering after dark... Movie theaters downtown had barred entrances... Not a good place to work, best bea big guy, maybe more than a couple, even... Daytime was fine, night work, a little dicey...

It's an inland port city, so a lot of transient, a lot of problems.. Hope they can sort it out, clean it up.. One nephew & his family live there, out on the edges, seem to get by OK...
