'life of the mother' has always been murky to me.
In the vast majority of the cases, indeed perhaps all cases, abortion is safer than child birth.
Child birth essentially always puts the mothers life at greater risk.
So on this matter along with the others one needs to come up with some sort of laundry list of risk and arbitrary cutoff points.
12 weeks. How many days hours minutes and seconds are we exactly talking about (and what sort of error margins do we impose).
Life of the mother. How much risk are we talking about (and again, what sort of error margins do we impose).
Extreme birth defect. Is that a state or county issue ... "extreme"? I have a thermometer and can measure temperature, but I lack an extremometer.
